Chattahoochee Technical College celebrated 2021 Engineers Week (EWeek) Feb. 22-26 with instructional initiatives designed to showcase electrical and computer engineering for local high school and elementary school students.
Stephanie O’Donoghue, the college’s lead instructor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology program, facilitated a class in electrical computer engineering for students at Marietta High School and McEachern High School. These students worked with an Arduino programmable circuit board and software for a real-time, hands-on experience with an electronics and programming project.
The Chattahoochee Tech 2021 EWeek initiative also included a virtual event featuring engineering instruction for local elementary school students as part of the EWeek Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. Another virtual event led by O’Donoghue included an online computer engineering exploration workshop as part of a GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Program) Georgia initiative for high school students.
Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in 1951, Engineers Week is dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing the understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers.
