Many college students in the Metro Atlanta area begin their goal of earning a bachelor’s degree by first taking courses at Chattahoochee Technical College and then transferring into Kennesaw State University, the third largest university in Georgia. Now making this transfer process even better for students is the new LINK program, an academic bridge from Chatt Tech to Kennesaw State.
College officials from Kennesaw State and Chattahoochee Tech met at the Chatt Tech North Metro Campus on Tuesday, Nov. 14, to formally launch the LINK program with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Transfer Articulation Agreement. This initiative represents a valuable college partnership, which empowers students to transition seamlessly from Chatt Tech to Kennesaw State. Through the new LINK program, students are encouraged to first complete 30 credit hours at Chatt Tech representing 10 classes of General Education courses. Then these students apply as a transfer student to Kennesaw State with a solid foundation of courses that transfer seamlessly into Kennesaw State programs of study.
Chattahoochee Tech students who enroll in the LINK program will receive professional academic advising at Chatt Tech and have access to a transfer evaluation counselor from Kennesaw State. Beginning college at Chatt Tech allows students to explore interests, complete general education requirements, and ease into the college experience. Chatt Tech students in the LINK program who complete transferable credit hours with a 2.0 or higher GPA will have their Kennesaw State application fee waived, and their Chatt Tech transcripts will be released to KSU for free. In a practice known as reverse transfer, credits earned at Kennesaw State also can be applied toward possible associate degrees awarded by Chatt Tech.
The MOU and Articulation Agreement was entered into between the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia by and on behalf of Kennesaw State University, and Chattahoochee Tech, a Unit of the Technical College System of Georgia.
