Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy at Chattahoochee Technical College
Students who receive financial aid funds must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Financial aid students should be familiar with this policy. This is only a brief description of the Chattahoochee Tech SAP policy.
SAP is measured in three ways and is checked every semester. Financial aid students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and must complete 66% of all attempted classes. Also, students are required to complete their program of study within 150% of the time normally required.
No Show Policy
A “no show” is a student whose name appears on the class roster but fails to attend class the first time after his/her name appears on the roll. Any student reported as a “no show” by an instructor will be administratively withdrawn from the class.
No shows shall receive a 100% refund of applicable tuition (hours below 15-hour tuition cap) and applicable refundable fees, excluding the application fee.
Any student receiving financial aid who is reported as a “no show” will have his/her financial aid award for that class cancelled. All financial aid awards based on courses that students do not attend will be cancelled, and the student will be responsible for any applicable charges.
Refund Policy (Institutional)
Students dropping a course by the end of the drop/add period of the semester (please see the applicable semester’s calendar for the exact date and time as set by the college) and “no shows” shall receive a 100-percent refund of applicable tuition (hours below 15-hour tuition cap) and applicable refundable fees, excluding the application fee. Students who withdraw from a course after the drop/add period has ended (please see the applicable semester’s calendar for the exact date and time as set by the college) of the semester shall receive no refund. This refund policy is mandated by the Technical College System of Georgia and strictly followed by Chattahoochee Technical College.
Overpayments
It is expected that every student will discharge any indebtedness to the college as quickly as possible. When at all possible, Chattahoochee Tech will attempt to resolve the overpayment during the next term(s). If the overpayment is due to student error and cannot be resolved, Chattahoochee Tech must report the overpayment to the National Student Loan Data System. Students who are in overpayment status are ineligible for financial assistance at any postsecondary college until the overpayment is resolved and will be prohibited from attending classes in future semesters at Chattahoochee Tech. Students are required to repay the over payment received even if it was due to school error. Most awarding errors are due to the dropping of courses, non-attendance or inaccurate information on the financial aid application.
