Fielding Lewis DAR Chapter Donates $1,000 and Hosts Breakfast at VECTR Center

A strong show of support for Chattahoochee Tech’s military community arrived with breakfast and a $1,000 donation on Aug. 25. The Fielding Lewis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), presented the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation with the donation, designated for the college’s Veterans Education and Career Transition Resource (VECTR) Center at the Chatt Tech Marietta Campus.

This donation was presented in conjunction with a breakfast hosted by DAR volunteers to honor Chatt Tech students who are veterans or active-duty service members, along with military family members and faculty and staff who are military veterans. Dozens gathered to enjoy the meal and connect with DAR volunteers, who prepared and served the breakfast.

“This event was more than a meal. It was a meaningful way to show appreciation and strengthen the sense of community we strive to build for our military-affiliated students,” said Michael Payne, Chattahoochee Tech Director of Veteran Services. “We are very grateful to the Fielding Lewis DAR Chapter for their generosity and partnership in supporting those who have served.”

Each semester, Chattahoochee Tech is home to more than 450 military-affiliated students. The college’s VECTR Center, which is one of only two in Georgia, offers personalized support for veterans, active-duty and military-affiliated students, easing their transition into college life and civilian career. It fosters a supportive community that understands and respects their journey.

The college’s dedication to serving military students consistently earns national recognition. For the 2025–2026 academic year, Chattahoochee Tech was named a Top Ten Military Friendly® School, an honor awarded to colleges that deliver outstanding services to veterans and their families.

The Fielding Lewis DAR Chapter is part of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, a nonprofit, nonpolitical women’s service organization. DAR members participate in volunteer service projects to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism.
