Clinic Assistant
This certificate program provides entry level preparation for initial employment as a clinical assistant. This program provides training in the necessary skills and knowledge required to provide area health care facilities and mobile lab facilities with prospective employees. This certificate program focuses on the drawing of blood for laboratory testing, but the work has expanded duties beyond the Phlebotomist. The Clinic Assistant is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team whose main function is to obtain patient’s blood specimens by venipuncture and micro collection of other clinical specimens. Clinic Assistants are employed throughout the healthcare system in hospitals, neighborhood health centers, medical group practices, HMOs, and public health facilities.
