Chattahoochee Technical College Vice President for Facilities David Simmons has been named the new chairman of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The immediate past chairman, John Barker, passed the gavel to Simmons at the chamber’s annual meeting held recently at the Cherokee County Conference Center in Canton.
“It’s an honor to serve in this capacity for the chamber,” said Simmons. “I’ve been involved with the chamber for the past 10 years, and I look forward to serving in this role with dignity and respect as I follow in the footsteps of past leaders. The 2020 board is comprised of community leaders who are full of character, intelligence, imagination, drive, and experience.”
Included among the chamber’s primary goals for 2020, according to Simmons, are to connect leaders, create business growth opportunities, and cultivate member-to-member relationships. He also noted that overall goals include enhancing existing programs and increasing membership. Sponsored by Northside Hospital-Cherokee, the chamber’s recent annual meeting celebrated its 2019 accomplishments and featured former Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal as the keynote speaker, who shared about Georgia’s successes and the positive future for the state’s businesses and citizens.
