Atlanta Gas Light Donates $15,000 to Chattahoochee Tech Foundation

Chattahoochee Technical College now offers two new scholarships thanks to a generous, $15,000 donation from Atlanta Gas Light. Representatives from Atlanta Gas Light presented this donation to the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation on Thursday, April 4, at the college’s Marietta Campus.

“Atlanta Gas Light is proud to make this donation toward supporting workforce development in our community,” said Kenny Horton, the Northwest Metro Director of Regional Operations for Atlanta Gas Light. “With this donation, we hope to inspire students to take a look at AGL as a future employer using some of the technical skills obtained at Chatt Tech.” Horton also serves on the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation Board of Trustees.

The AGL donation will fund two $1,000 scholarships, which will be awarded by the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation on April 19. This donation also will help fund emergency grants for students in need. In additional support, Atlanta Gas Light will serve as a sponsor for the Foundation’s 2024 scholarship awards presentation event as well as for the 2024 SPARK Workforce awards event.

“With AGL’s support, the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation is able to continue to provide resources to students to keep them enrolled toward graduation and ultimately employed in the local workforce.” Said Jennifer Nelson, the Chattahoochee Tech Vice President of Advancement and Executive Director for the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation.

Atlanta Gas Light employees who gathered at the college’s Marietta Campus to present the $15,000 donation to the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation included Carlton McDougle, Janene Crawford, Randall Spencer, Colleen Parker, Kenny Horton, Jamie Martinez, and Tracy Belo.
