Registering for Classes

For the best selection of classes and preferred times, you will want to register as early as possible. However, please keep the following in mind:
- The earliest registration time is called “Priority Registration” and is available only to current students with accumulated earned credit hours (see below).
- Registration for each term is broken down into three sub-periods: 1) priority/early registration; 2) regular registration; and 3) final day of registration through drop/add.
- Each of these sub-periods has its own tuition and fees payment deadline – if all tuition and fees are not paid by the deadline for that specific registration sub-period, your courses will be dropped.
Priority registration is the first four days of early registration and was implemented to ensure that CTC students who are nearing the completion of their programs of study have the greatest chance to register for the class(es) they need to graduate. Priority registration runs for four days and gradually reduces the number of earned hours required in order to register, as follows:
Registration Day 1: 45 or more earned credit hours required
Registration Day 2: 30 or more earned credit hours required
Registration Day 3: 15 or more earned credit hours required
Registration Day 4: all current students may register
Early registration continues on Day 5 with registration allowed for all current and new students, with no earned credit hours requirements.
NOTE: At the conclusion of Early Registration, there is a tuition and fees payment deadline. All tuition and fees must be paid (by financial aid, you, or a third party) by this deadline or your classes will be dropped.
Regular registration follows Priority/Early registration and its corresponding tuition and fees payment deadline. Regular registration is available for all students, current and new, but class availability may be limited due to early registration activity. You are encouraged to register during priority/early registration for the best selection.
However, if you were unable to find space in a desired class during priority/early registration, you will want to review those classes again as soon as regular registration begins due to the possibility of seats coming available from students being dropped for non-payment.
NOTE: At the conclusion of Regular Registration, there is a tuition and fees payment deadline. All tuition and fees must be paid (by financial aid, you, or a third party) by this deadline or your classes will be dropped.
Final Day of Registration and Drop/Add
As its name implies, the final day of registration is the final day, before the semester begins, where you may register for class(es). You are strongly encouraged not to wait for this final day of registration, as many classes will already be filled. (There is no late fee on the final day of registration prior to Drop/Add.)
Once the semester begins, the first three consecutive days of the semester (not counting Saturday, Sunday or a holiday) are available for Drop/Add. You may freely drop and add courses as you wish, but take care not to drop a class without knowing you can enter another. At this late date, if you drop a class and cannot add (primarily due to no seats being available), you may not be able to re-enter the class you just dropped due to someone else already taking the seat.
NOTE: If you have not registered prior to the Drop/Add period (or were dropped for non-payment or any other reason), but are still eligible to register, you may do so; however, a late fee will apply for any “new” registration at this time.
At the conclusion of Drop/Add, there is a tuition and fees payment deadline. All tuition and fees must be paid (by financial aid, you, or a third party) by this deadline or your classes will be dropped. There will be NO opportunity to add a class after this point.
