Applied Technical Management


Information about this exciting field:

For students who have completed a diploma program in a technical area, the Associate Degree in Applied Technical Management allows them to add general education and business skills to the technical skills they have learned already.  For students wanting for further their education or start a business, this degree program will give them a head start!

Is this program for me?

An Applied Technical Management student must have graduated from, or be eligible to graduate from, a diploma program in a field appropriate to the degree area.  This degree program requires a minimum of 68 semester credit hours, to include a minimum of 15 credits in general education and 53 credits in occupational preparation.  Students may be allowed to enter this degree program if they have received a diploma in one of the following programs:  Air Conditioning Technology, Auto Collision Repair, Cosmetology, Diesel Equipment Technology, Electrical Systems Technology, Motorcycle Service Technology, and Welding and Joining Technology.  Students interested in this program should contact the Applied Technical Management advisor ( in order to develop a degree plan.  Here are some qualities and skills that are essential for the successful Applied Technical Management graduate:

  • Strong logical reasoning
  • Detail oriented
  • Skilled with computers, math, and electronics
  • Strong reading comprehension
  • Physical strength and stamina

  • Financial Accounting
  • Associate Degree General Education courses, such as:
    ENGL 1101 Composition and Rhetoric
    PSYC 1101 Introductory Psychology
    HUMN 1101 Introduction to Humanities 

Where might I find a job?

Applied Technology Management encompasses many different specialties that apply the principles of technology as related to a variety of work-related environments.  Positions in the field can range from plant supervisor to management consultant.
