Chattahoochee Men's and Women's Cross Country Set To Begin It's Sixth Season

Chattahoochee Technical College begins it's sixth season of cross country this Saturday at the University of Georgia Invitational in Bishop, GA. This
year's Golden Eagles men's team includes only one returning runner (Antonio Leija), and several strong freshman runners. Since fall classes do not begin
until late September, the complete team will not form for several more weeks. However, the team is slated to have over 15 male athletes, double the size
of last years squad. The team includes runners from the local metro area, across the state of Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Kenya. In addition to Antonio
other harriers competing this weekend include: Delanzo Sharp, Joshua Olsen, Guy Jordan, Mathew Ziestma, Ian Scarborough, Donovan Miller, and Quinton Pittman.
The 2009 team placed second in the region championships.

Despite only being in full pads for a couple of days, the Chattahoochee Technical College club football team had high anticipations going into its first
game in history. The opponent, EPSA, had other plans and welcomed the Golden Eagles into the world of competitive football with a lesson in humility. In what
was a competitive game through much of the third quarter, the Cobras erupted for 32 unanswered points in a 51-6 rout over CTC on Sunday afternoon at Corky
Kell Stadium at Wheeler High School.

Mosley 6th Philp 8th at NJCAA Indoor National Championships

The Golden Eagles Indoor Track team completed their indoor season with six athletes competing in the NJCAA National Indoor Championships on
March 5th and 6th at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill. Harrison Philp was the most outstanding male CTC athlete at the meet. Harrison
reset the school record in the 800 meter run (1:58.03), qualifying for the finals in the event on Friday. At the finals, on Saturday afternoon,
Harrison placed 8th in the event. Harrison also competed in the 1000m run on Thursday. Although he did not qualify for the finals, he reset the
school record (2:36.88) and finished 14th overall. Shauntia Mosley was the most outstanding female athlete for CTC. During her long jump event,
there was some problems with the officiating. At one point during the event, officials had indicated that Shauntia had finished 3rd in the event.
However, when the final results were posted, she was listed at finishing 6th. Shauntia also competed in the 200 meter run. Although she did not make
the finals, she had the best performance of her indoor season with a time of 26.91.

Ioni Christian reset the school record in the 200m run with a time of 26.62. Her effort however, did not qualify her for the finals. She also
competed in the 60 meter run(8.01). Jovelle Patterson placed 11th in the 600 meter run (1:40.75), less than 2 seconds from qualifying for the
finals. She also competed in the 800 meter run placing 14th (2:27.25). She was also less than 2 seconds from qualifying for finals in that event.
George Oakman competed in the 60 meter run (7.10) placing 29th. Andrew Archer, competing with a pulled muscle, placed 18th in the 600 meter run
 (1:33.86).

"We were pleased with performances at the Indoor Championships," according to Head Coach Steve Prettyman. "We had hoped that Mosley would place in
the top three. However, due to some officiating problems, that did not happen. We were very happy to see Philp make the finals and finish 8th. He
has been working hard all season, and provided a great performance. He was one of only three athletes in the meet that competed in both the 800 and
the 1000. Our team does not have a lot of the advantages of the top teams in the nation, including facilities, and equipment. However, we still
manage to provide some excitement at each national championship. We hope that several athletes, in addition to Mosley (who has already qualified),
can qualify for the outdoor national championships in May".

Additional members of the indoor team competed at the Oglethorpe Indoor-Outdoor Meet on Saturday March 6th. Performances at this meet included: JC
 Cherry, Long Jump (2nd tie, 19'), 200 (1st, 23:39), Quinton Thompson 200 (2nd, 24:33), Long Jump (5th, 18'5"), Ben Lewis, Mile (8th, 5:31),
 McMillian 200 (3rd, 28:74), Said Ahmed 3000m (7th, 10:02).

The outdoor season begins on March 26th and 27th with the Emory ASICS Invitational in Atlanta.

Three Qualify for Indoor Nationals at UNC

The Golden Eagles Indoor Track Teams continue to soar at the University of North Carolina Invitational in Chapel Hill, NC on Friday (1/29). Although the
Saturday's events were cancelled due to 8+ inches of snow, and the team arrived late because of bus problems, CTC had some outstanding performances.

Three members of the teams qualified for the NJCAA National Championships in March. Harrison Philp qualified for nationals in the 1000m run with a time of
2:37.38 (NQT 2:37.89). Harrison placed 7th in the event, just missing the school record (2:36.24). Andrew Archer qualified for nationals in the 500m event
with a time of 1:07.65. Andrew set the new school record in the event, and placed 7th overall. Jovelle Patterson qualified for nationals in the 500m event
with a time of 1:21.97. Jovelle placed 11th overall and set the new school record for the race distance. George Oakman broke the school record in the 60m
dash with a time of 7.08. George just missed the national qualifying mark (NQT 6.95), placing 17th in the event. Quinton Thompson set a new school record
in the 300m event (40.61) placing 47th. Ioni Christian competed in the 300m event, setting a new school record (44.95), placing 26th.

Ioni Christian just missed resetting the school record that she set last week with a time of 8.00 in the 60m. Ioni placed 19th, just missing the national
qualifying time (7.80). Shuantia Mosley placed 38th in the 60m (8.34). Quinton Thompson also competed in the 60m run, placing 47th (7.72). Newcomer Josh
Turner placed 34th in the 300m with a time of 40.74. Half the team did not compete due to the cancelled Saturday events.

"We are very pleased that three athletes qualified for nationals at the shortened UNC meet", states Head Coach Steve Prettyman. "We were disappointed that
our other athletes were not able to compete. We believe that several of them would have also had a chance to qualify this weekend."

Both teams travel to the University of the South in Sewanee, TN on Saturday, Feb. 6th.

The Chattahoochee Tech Golden Eagles outshot the Albany Tech Titans in the first half, and that was all that was needed to win the game 86-83.
Golden Eagles Head Coach David Archer said: “This was a great victory for the Golden Eagles against a very strong team on their home court Saturday
night in Albany. The Chattahoochee Tech Golden Eagles took command of the lead from the beginning with a variety of three point shots from the
perimeter, lay ups and foul shots from the line. The Albany Tech Titans battled back in the second half to tie the score at 83-83 with 24.9 seconds
remaining in regulation but they were no match for the determined Golden Eagles. This was one of our best played games of the season”.

CTC Golden Eagles Battle Albany Tech in Final Seconds of the Game

The Chattahoochee Technical College Golden Eagles basketball team played one of its best games of the season against a strong Albany Tech Titans
team at the JH Morgan Gym. The Final score at the buzzer when time expired was Albany Tech 99 and Chattahoochee Tech 97. Golden Eagles head coach
David Archer said: “Albany Technical College Titans has one of the best shooting teams in the conference. The Eagles were behind early but fought
back with our reserves playing extended minutes as they fought hard with the lead changing several times. Albany Tech head coach Sylvester Patterson
did a superb job making adjustments in the second half even with two titan players fouling out of the game and one ejection. Albany Tech was still
scoring but our golden eagles never ever gave up. This basketball game was an old fashion barn burner down to the last few seconds. Golden Eagles
player Josh Brown was our top scorer in the game with a team leading 21 points. Brown went up and down the court like a road runner.” The other
eagle players scored the following game points: Robert Broderick tossed in 17 and Courtney George had 16 while Richard David and Omarr Pruitt added
15 apiece for the eagles along with Shaun Cade’s 8 points.

The two teams meet again on Saturday evening December 12 in Albany.
