Library – Staff Policies
General materials circulate to staff for 4 weeks. Special materials, such as Reserves, circulate to staff for the same period as to students.
Non-circulating materials, such as Reference, may be checked out for a few days. Permission is granted based on the reason behind the request and current demand for the item requested.
Limits on Circulation
There are no limits on the total number of items a staff member may check out. Please remember the library collection is relatively small and students may be researching those same topics. Consequently, we ask that staff check out no more than 1 or 2 items on any one topic.
Regular circulating items may be renewed for an additional 2 loan periods.
The library sends overdue notices as a courtesy. There are no overdue fines for staff.
Lost and damaged materials
Staff are responsible for damaged or lost (i.e., unreturned) materials.
Requested campus library items may be delivered to any campus. Delivery is usually within 48 hours Monday through Friday. Items may also be returned to any campus.
Items not owned by CTC may be requested through a library Interlibrary Loan (ILL). ILL requests usually take 7-10 business days to receive. Renewal Requests for ILL items should be submitted 1 week before the due date. Renewal of ILL items is decided by the owning library and any item marked No Renewals is not eligible for renewal.
Library- or instructor-owned materials may be placed on Reserve for students. Reserve checkout may be limited to In-Library Use, 2 Days, or 7 Days. Certain classes keep selected materials on permanent Reserve at the Circulation Desk. Materials borrowed via Interlibrary-Loan or owned by other libraries will not be placed on reserve.
The library has reciprocal borrowing agreements with several area colleges.
