Ashoka is the global association of the world’s leading social entrepreneurs—men and women with system changing solutions for the world’s most urgent social problems. we develop models for collaboration and design infrastructure needed to advance the field of social entrepreneurship and the citizen sector. Ashoka works on three levels. First, we support individual social entrepreneurs—financially and professionally—throughout their life cycle. Second, we bring communities of social entrepreneurs together to help leverage their impact, scale their ideas, and capture and disseminate their best practices. Finally, we help build the infrastructure and financial systems needed to support the growth of the citizen sector and facilitate the spread of social innovation globally.

Books for Africa is the world’s largest shipper of donated text and library books to the African continent. Books for Africa works to increase literacy and improve access to education by ending the book famine in Africa. Volunteers are needed to assist with sorting and packing books for shipment for two hours or more. No heavy lifting is involved. Books for Africa is open Monday through Friday, 9am-3pm and on the first and third Saturday 9am-2pm.

The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. The IRC helps to resettle refugees by providing housing, furnishings, food and clothing. Volunteers can serve in the following positions: ESL class assistants, Resettlement Shop donation sorter, youth tutor, computer lab assistant, or family mentor.

Love and Grace Ministry, Inc. evangelizes, educates, empower, and eradicates hunger one lift at a time. Following the tragic earthquake of 2010 in Haiti, Dedra Key de Chavez founded Love and Grace Ministry as a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their community in Ounaminthe, Haiti, to reach their full potential by addressing the causes of poverty and injustice. With one main school and four satellite schools, they currently provide 570 children with a Christ-centered education along with warm, nutritious meals and access to medical care and clothing. The organization strives to provide two to three meals per week, depending on donations, to the children while they are at school.

MedShare International is dedicated to recycling surplus medical supplies and equipment for use by healthcare institutions in developing countries. To achieve this mission, MedShare International collects batch and single item supplies and equipment that are still valuable but no longer in demand in the United States due to procedural excess, technological change, regulatory requirements, or production overage, and distributes them to healthcare facilities in targeted developing countries.
