(Marietta, Ga. – June 6, 2013) Classes began Thursday for the 8-week Summer Semester at Chattahoochee Technical College. As of the first day of the semester, 7,229 students are registered in classes for one of CTC’s certificate, diploma or degree programs. Missy Cusack, Executive Director of Admissions, said “As the new semester begins, we look forward to the opportunity to help students attain success, both in the classroom and in preparation for their future careers.”
Officials at Chattahoochee Technical College note a change in trends this semester with the enrollment in online classes surpassing the Marietta Campus, which traditionally is most popular. However, the Marietta and North Metro locations maintain the highest number of students attending on-campus classes. There are currently 3,254 students enrolled in online classes, including 1,658 students enrolled only in online classes for the term.
Another unique aspect for Chattahoochee Technical College this semester is the increased number of transient students, those who are currently enrolled at another educational institution but are registered for classes at CTC also. This is type of enrollment is generally popular among students who are home for summer break but want to continue working on their educational goals. Transient students have jumped 72 percent from this same time last year.
“Thanks to articulation agreements with state colleges and universities, as well as independent institutions, Chattahoochee Technical College credits for general education/core classes and many others are accepted at Georgia colleges and universities,” said Cusack. “This means that students home for the summer can still earn college credit, but at a lower cost while being more convenient to home.”
